We do NOT use your data for tracking. We do not link your data with third-party data for advertising purposes, nor do we share your data with data brokers.

2.1 Device Registration

This app uses automatic device-based registration. When you first open the app, we generate a unique device identifier (UUID) that serves as your account. We do not collect your email address, name, or any personal contact information to use the app.

We collect:

  • Device ID: A randomly generated unique identifier for your device
  • Device model and platform (iOS/Android)
  • App version
  • Push notification tokens (to send you reminders)

2.2 Location Data

CRITICAL: Limited Location Collection

We collect location data ONLY when you are near the M50 toll gantry. The App uses a two-stage geofencing system:

  • Stage 1 - Approach Zone (2km radius): When you enter this area, the App activates precise background location tracking
  • Stage 2 - Toll Zone (1km radius): When you enter this area, we collect a single location point and create a toll event
  • We record the timestamp of when you passed through the toll zone
  • Background location tracking automatically stops when you leave the approach zone
  • We do NOT track your location continuously
  • We do NOT track your journeys or movements outside the toll area
  • We do NOT monitor your location when you are not near the M50 toll gantry

This limited location collection is essential for the core functionality of the App. Without it, we cannot detect when you pass the toll gantry and send you reminders.

2.3 Payment Information

Payment processing is handled by Stripe, a third-party payment processor. We do not store your credit card information. Stripe collects and processes payment information in accordance with their privacy policy.

2.4 Usage Data

We may collect:

  • Toll event records (when you passed the gantry)
  • Notification preferences and settings
  • Subscription status and billing information

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Detect when you pass the M50 toll gantry and send you payment reminders
  • Device Authentication: Identify your device to provide personalised toll history and reminders
  • Send Notifications: Deliver push notifications about toll payment reminders
  • Process Payments: Handle lifetime license payments (e.g. through Apple on iOS or Stripe on other platforms)
  • Improve the Service: Analyse usage patterns to improve App functionality (using aggregated, anonymised data)

  • Comply with Legal Obligations: Meet legal requirements and respond to lawful requests

We do NOT:

  • Track your location outside of the M50 toll gantry area
  • Monitor your journeys or travel patterns
  • Sell your personal information to third parties
  • Use your location data for advertising or marketing purposes
  • Share your location data with third parties except as described in this policy

4. Location Data - Detailed Explanation

How Our Two-Stage Geofencing Works

Our App uses a battery-efficient two-stage geofencing system designed to maximise detection accuracy while minimising location data collection and battery usage.

What happens:

  1. Approach Zone (2km radius): When you enter this outer zone, the App activates precise background location tracking. On iOS, you will see a blue location indicator; on Android, a notification appears showing the App is actively detecting.
  2. Toll Zone (1km radius): When you enter the inner toll zone, we record a single location point (latitude, longitude) and timestamp.
  3. We create a toll event record associated with your account
  4. We schedule payment reminders based on this event
  5. Background location tracking automatically stops when you leave the approach zone or after a toll event is created

What does NOT happen:

  • We do not continuously track your location throughout your journey
  • We do not record your location when you are not near the toll gantry
  • We do not track your route or travel patterns
  • We do not monitor your location in real-time outside the toll area
  • We do not create a history of your movements

This two-stage geofencing approach minimises location data collection and battery usage while providing reliable toll detection. Your device's operating system handles the geofence detection, and precise tracking only activates when you are within 2km of the toll gantry.

5. Data Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

5.1 Service Providers

We may share information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf:

  • Stripe: Payment processing (payment information only)
  • Expo/React Native: App infrastructure and push notification delivery
  • Hosting Providers: Data storage and server infrastructure

These service providers are contractually obligated to protect your information and use it only for the purposes we specify.

5.2 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law or in response to valid legal requests, such as:

  • Court orders or subpoenas
  • Government investigations
  • Protection of our rights or property
  • Protection of user safety

5.3 Business Transfers

You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us or using the "Delete Account" option in the App settings. We will delete your data within 30 days of your request, except where we are required to retain it by law.

9. Children's Privacy

The Service is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a child under 16 without parental consent, we will take steps to delete that information immediately.

By using the Service, you confirm that you are at least 16 years of age. If you are under 16, you must not use the Service and must have parental or guardian consent to use the Service.

10. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than Ireland. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from Irish and EU law.
